IML (In Mold Labeling)
IML (In Mold Labeling) is a labeling process used in the plastic injection molding industry. It involves inserting high-quality film labels into the mold before plastic injection, allowing the label to fuse with the plastic part during the molding process. The result is a part with a permanent and durable label that will not peel off or scratch off with normal use.
The IML process begins with selecting the appropriate label for the product, which can be any size, shape, or color. The label is placed in a precise position within the mold and secured in place by vacuum or static charge. Molten plastic is then injected into the mold, and the label fuses with the plastic part during the molding process. Once the part has cooled and solidified, it is ejected from the mold as a complete, finished part.
IML services are commonly used in the production of plastic packaging and containers for food, beverages, and consumer products. The benefits of the IML process include an attractive, high-quality appearance, increased label durability, and increased production efficiency, as the label is fused to the plastic part during the molding process, eliminating the need to apply separate labels after molding.
